November 21st, 2009 - After contacting my local Apple stores last week and none of the staff knowing anything about the Vestax Spin, a product exclusive to them, I bought it off of the Apple Canada website. Today was the estimated arrival date and it came right on time (despite what the UPS site said).
Since it'll take me a couple days to get a full hardware/software review up (hopefully I'll have it done by Monday or Tuesday), I figured I'd create a ... Read More

October 20th, 2009 - Bam! New Apple hardware for those of you who are Mac-friendly. There's an updated iMac, with more power and a wider aspect screen. There's the new Magic Mouse which replaces the "Mighty Mouse" (which can no longer be called that due to a name dispute), that supports multi-touch gestures. Hopefully the new gestures will allow DAW users to make better use of their mouse. Most people I know are heavily keyboard short-cut dependent.
There's also a new unibody Macbook. ... Read More

June 5th, 2009 - A couple weeks ago, I lamented that iTunes was too bloated. If I only want to listen to music, why should I have to deal with the resource heavy iTunes? If you're a Windows user, you have plenty of great options, but many of the Mac music players are also bloated with features I don't use.
The problem is, I like the way iTunes tags and organizes my music, so I continue to use it. ... Read More

March 31st, 2009 - Sometimes it's not convenient to bring a guitar with you. In my case that's almost anytime since my car lacks a usable trunk. So when my friends told me about Jam Sessions for the Nintendo DS a couple years back, I gave it a look. What's great about Jam Sessions is that it's really more of a tool than a game, that allows you to play real music.
Amidio's Star Guitar aims to do the same ... Read More

March 3rd, 2009 - Today Apple updated their Mac mini's, iMac's and Mac Pro towers. Sure, they all have more power and tonnes of USB ports, but both the iMac and Mac minis no longer, in keeping with the new Macbooks, have a FW400 port. Now when the new unibody Apple laptops came out, I could somewhat understand their omission from a design standpoint, even if it was a kick in the pants for those of us who bought ... Read More

December 8th, 2008 - If you read other blogs, you know that people love to speculate about Apple. There are always dozens of "substantiated" Apple rumours at any given time. As well, many of these rumours are rehashed over and over. This weeks rehash, is that the iTunes store will start selling songs without DRM.
For those unfamiliar with DRM, it's basically a way for record companies to feel good about selling you music in a medium that is so ... Read More

October 21st, 2008 - I've been a Logic user since version 5. This would make me a noob in the world of audio. It wasn't until version 7, that I actually sat down and learned how to use its features properly. Even now, I don't use all of its functionality (there's a lot), but I know enough to get stuff done. This post will be not so much a review, but a brief look into my history at using ... Read More

October 16th, 2008 - Ok, unless you've been under a rock for the past 2 days, and yet somehow still have the internet connection to visit this site, you have heard of Apple's new laptop releases. I didn't really see the need to report on it since Peter at CreateDigitalMusic, and MusicRadar had already posted the same concerns as I had, but i figured that if you didn't already know why you shouldn't buy one, you should.
The new Macbook and MacbookPro laptops ... Read More

August 7th, 2008 - Patents have surfaced that show Apple's plans for touchscreen DJ software. Whether the software is for the iPhone or the rumoured Macbook Touch, all that is known is that some developers are being blocked from releasing DJ-type applications on the iPhone. That might be due to Apple wanting a lock on all potential music software for its "music" devices, or because it plans to release its own surprise software. After checking out the above graphic and perusing the ... Read More

August 4th, 2008 - Designer Brian Kane has come up with a design concept that mounts the iPhone on a harmonica brace. He envisions people using the iPhone to display song lyrics and guitar tabs when busking. What can't the iPhone do? Next you'll be telling me that you can use it to call people.
