– Speaker cable prices can run the gamut from a few dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. While the listening experience may not necessarily be reflected in the price, good quality cables can make a difference. Of course, you don’t have to pay big dollars for a good quality cable if you make them yourself.

Joseph Levy has put together a tutorial on how to make your own speaker cables out of silver wire. It seems that you can get a much thinner gauge wire of silver over copper, and maintain the same quality. It is pretty pricey though, so if it’s something you’re interested in, making your own silver cables will save you thousands of dollars potentially.

If you aren’t into making your own cables, but still want good cables, Levy has a company that sells them as well.
