The guy on the right is my friend Chris who lives in Japan. No matter what music plays, he dances like a maniac…it’s infectious.
February 15th, 2010 – Derek Sivers is the creator of CDBaby, one of the most popular sites for indie artists to sell their CD’s directly to fans. He has since donated the business to charity (although retaining a salary), and the charity sold CDBaby. It’s a win-win for everyone, because Derek gets to do something good and create a foundation that gets funding off the investments from the sale, and he gets money based upon the value of the foundation. Less taxes for him, and the foundation gets a renewing income.
Lately, Derek has been posting some killer articles and tips about the music industry. In the video below, he dissects what’s happening with the viral internet “dancing guy” video, and makes it relevant to creating your own buzz, and creating your own “dance party”. If nothing, it’s a fascinating look at the power of one man to create a crowd. According to Derek, it’s not even the original dancing guy, it’s the second dancing guy who’s the important one.
