January 2nd, 2010 – For the new year, I’ve started writing an ebook on how to improve your songwriting. It will be a free ebook available to any who wants it and you can copy it, print it out, and send it to your friends. It won’t be an epic thousand page tome, but it won’t short either. I may post some of it as I’m writing to gauge the reaction to it as well.
I plan on it being more like a reference guide rather than a be-all-end-all. My questions for you is, what topics would you like to see covered?

Something has been bothering me lately – it’s the structure of song. As lots of musician, I’m stuck in a very short piece devellopment – even if little by little it’s growing. Now I’m “studying” others piece and I begin to understand some unwritten rules about it, beside ABAB – what’s an intro and outro, what it does bring…
Another things, as a beginner, it’s the place of instrument – what’s a bassline, why use it, what it’s purpose ? And the battery ? Do I need a singer ? I know it’s the relation between all those part that create the final piece, but it’s not something I’ve seen written about often – on the net I mean.
I think a guide that speak more about those “simple” and not so obvious area should be great. The more I advance in music, the less I need to be educated about the low level theory (why does a B come before a C), but more about the big picture – how to use those small blocks of knowledge.
I don’t know if it make sense ?
