December 4th, 2009 – Have you ever listened to a song and thought that it sounded familiar? Especially in today’s music, sampling is all over the place and, unlike the time of Vanilla Ice, it’s not always completely obvious where the original sample came from.
That’s where WhoSampled comes into play. It’s a website started by a DJ and maintained by a community of music enthusiasts. Each song has a video (often Youtube) of the song, and then a video of the song that was sampled. If the sample isn’t completely obvious, a time is listed above the song to tell you exactly where it occurs. You can vote on the submission to show whether or not you think it’s correct.
WhoSampled also includes covers if that’s your thing.
