From The Basement

November 2nd, 2009 – Ever since Musformation linked the website From The Basement this morning, I’ve spent quite a bit of time watching videos from it. For those of you unfamiliar with the site, it is the brainchild of Nigel Godrich, an established engineer with many huge albums under his belt.

From The Basement shows performances filmed in HD, mixed live off the floor by Nigel. The videos are intimate and very warm. My favorite part is the banter between band-mates in between takes, as you get the fly-on-the-wall experience. Artists like Beck, Iggy Pop, Radiohead, and Queens of the Stone Age, have all filmed segments for the website.

It looks like they update the content regularly so it may end up being one of the sites I visit frequently. Enjoy!
