October 28th, 2009 – Following ThinkGeek’s other ridiculous t-shirts (1, 2, 3), is the “Electronic Rock Guitar Shirt”. Perhaps they could have come up with a less descriptive name in the interests of brevity.
It plays power chords (even though the site says it plays major chords), has buttons on each fret mimicking the big E string, and a magnetic pick that you use to strum your power ballad. To rock out to 11, a tiny “amp” is included that you can clip onto a belt. Knobs allow you to adjust both volume and tone, and the grill of the amp also serves as a place to store your pick when not in use.
I really, really wanted to make fun of this shirt, especially with such ad copy as, “The Electronic Guitar Shirt is not a toy that plays pre-canned musical riffs, it is a real musical instrument that allows you to play your favorite songs and sound great doing it”, but it’s obvious that whoever designed this shirt actually put some thought into it. Cool or useful? Maybe not. But I’m still intrigued for some reason. The shirt retails for $29 USD.

It is a little silly, but you have to admire the effort…I’d rather play an actual guitar myself, but there are some places that just doesn’t work
