September 12th, 2009 – I was lucky coming to Osaka as I am staying with a musician and have full access to his instruments and home studio. Because of this, I only had to bring my laptop and my Sony PCM-D50, portable audio recorder (to record ambiences and song ideas while I’m here). I also brought my brand new wind screen for the recorder. I haven’t tested it yet, but I’ll post a review when I have. Do you bring music gear with you when you travel? If so, what do you bring?

    Always!

    It ranges from a guitar when we go camping to a laptop for making strange electronic noises on airplanes.

    The Zoom H2 is a great little recorder to take on trips. It’s about the size an old-school ipod, but does a great job and is up for recording all sorts of things.

    @James Lewin : I’ve heard good things about the H2…how is its sensitivity?

    The H2 looks cool.

    My travel gear is my Steinberger guitar for music musings and my BlackBerry for jotting down lyric ideas. I also usually take a computer but not always, and the times I have taken it, I have never recorded a single note!

    Last time – I took my laptop, a monome and my zoom h2.

    @Vinayk : If I had a monome, I’d bring it everywhere

    I take guitar, iphone, and my mac.

    @Music Gear : Do you use your iPhone to compose as well? I’ve been thinking of getting one (or an iPod Touch) to use some of the great music apps people have been releasing.
