Aviary’s Myna : Online Audio Editor

Myna

September 17th, 2009 – Aviary has released an online audio editor called Myna. I first became familiar with Aviary through their online photo editing and vector creation applications. Those applications are quite powerful but also cost money.

Myna on the other hand, is a free application similar to Apple’s Garageband, and Sony’s Acid Pro. It has a basic multi-track arrange window, built in effects, a drop-in loop library, automation and the ability to export the mix, or upload it to Aviary’s servers.

The loops leave a lot to be desired as they are complete productions (ie. all instruments mixed into one stereo loop) but you have the ability to import your own loops and record audio over the internet. It’s certainly a serviceable audio editor, useful for those new to audio, or for those who do fairweather editing. Accounts are free and are required for saving sessions.
