Mbox 2 Micro

August 28th, 2009 – The AIR Users Blog, in concert with Avid, is giving away an Mbox 2 Micro bundled with Protools 8. All you need to do to win is enter your email address and answer the skill testing question. I’m not sure if I should tell you this (since it ruins my odds of winning) but the contest regulations state that you can enter the contest multiple times with different email addresses.

The Mbox 2 Micro/Protools 8 bundle is the most basic of Protools bundles. The Mbox 2 Micro is the cheapest way to use Protools and is only a monitoring solution; it doesn’t have inputs, only analog outs. The bundle is for mixing sessions on the go, and for MIDI tracking inside the software. This is a pretty easy contest for those of us who haven’t upgraded to Protools 8 yet, although if you were going to drop your actual dollars on a version of Protools, I might suggest getting a nice M-Audio interface and then buying the M-Powered version. If you know someone with a student ID, you can get Protools M-Powered for $150. Not too shabby, but not nearly as nice as getting Protools for free from the AIR Users Blog.
