June 3rd, 2009 – Remember how a few months ago, Apple began discontinuing its Firewire 400 ports in their products? At the time, most music bloggers recommended purchasing the older MacBook White instead of the shiny new unibody MacBooks. Well not only are the older bodied MacBooks cheaper and include a FW400 port, it also turns out that they are potentially faster.
Macworld benchmarked the two MacBooks against each other, and found the MacBook White 5% quicker in benchmark testing. It was also 12% faster (unsurprisingly) than the MacBook Air. Yet another reason to save some money and buy “older” tech. I guess newer doesn’t necessarily mean better.
