Indaba Music A.I.R. series

May 20th, 2009 – I’ve blogged several times about IndabaMusic, the community of producers and remixers. Known more for its contests, IndabaMusic is branching out and releasing the A.I.R. series. Standing for “artist in residence”, the series is a set of tutorials and instructional posts by music professionals.

The first artist in the series is Phil Moffa, a member of of the group Vinyl Life. As well as being an artist, he is a music educator. The series is fairly new so there aren’t many posts, but Phil has posted some articles on layering to create new sounds (especially useful for creating beats), and why you should sample from vinyl.

The series is for the absolute beat beginner, but it’s a good opportunity to hear what works from a pro. Phil seems to be actively engaging his readers, so if you have any questions, I’m sure he would answer them.
