May 30th, 2009 – Lately, I’ve noticed the popularity of ToneMatrix increasing. As you may recall, I reviewed the Hobnox AudioTool which featured an imported version of ToneMatrix. While there were other tools available to liven up the possibilities, the ToneMatrix remained the centre of attention.
For those who aren’t aware, the ToneMatrix was designed by Andre Michelle and is actually a separate application. On his blog, he explains that he created the ToneMatrix after he had a chance to play with the Tenori-On. Future plans include allowing the user to record and sequence patterns (right now you have to play live which limits the possibilities of your melodies), as well as add on possibilities. Currently, ToneMatrix is available for free online play on his website. If you like what you hear, try it out in conjunction with other virtual gear on Hobnox. If you want a downloadable sequencer that acts similar, try out Weepr.
