MixTape.me

March 20th, 2009 – Adam Pash of Lifehacker fame has released his pet project, an online playlist site, MixTape.me. I poked around it a bit yesterday and it seemed pretty solid for a beta.

MixTape is sort of like Muxtape before the RIAA got to it; the basic premise is playlist sharing. The major difference, of course, is that you can’t just download the playlists for free. If you like the songs, you can buy them (right now set up with Amazon), embed the playlist on your own site, or just share the MixTape.me URL with your friends.

The interface is designed to look like your local music player, and I personally think it looks like Songbird. Links and other important modules (like the file adding box) are all well-layed out. MixTape.me is intuitively designed and takes no time to get used to. If you’re looking for a new way to share playlists, or even just to put your own playlists online so you can stream them away from home, check it out. I’ve embedded one of Adam’s playlists below. Perhaps when I get home, I’ll make my own and link it here.
