March 31st, 2009 – Sometimes it’s not convenient to bring a guitar with you. In my case that’s almost anytime since my car lacks a usable trunk. So when my friends told me about Jam Sessions for the Nintendo DS a couple years back, I gave it a look. What’s great about Jam Sessions is that it’s really more of a tool than a game, that allows you to play real music.
Amidio’s Star Guitar aims to do the same for the iPhone (and iTouch). Check out the video below to see it in action. One of the cool things it can do is record your singing at the same time as the guitar samples are being played, so you can have your song ideas recorded. You can get it off the iTunes store for $3.99 and if I had the money to buy an iPhone, I’d definitely pick it up. Just like Jam Sessions, it’s not going to be your main recording rig, but it’s certainly a very useful songwriting tool.
