February 20th, 2009 – Are you interested in writing the next classic video game theme, but lack a half a dozen retro gaming systems at your disposal? Well, BoingBoing has a tutorial from Tettix, that shows you how to create similar sounding music in Reason. From the use of samples, to bit-crunching  software instruments, you too can get fat, crunchy, buzzing 8bit tunes. It may be cheating a bit, with fidelity that is perhaps too good, but it’s all in good fun. Make your own chiptunes song, then try not get giddy; it’s impossible. Chiptunes are so darned catchy! If you don’t know how to use Reason, the tutorials are also a good primer into using the software.
