Lexicon I-ONIX Desktop USB Recording Interfaces

December 21st, 2008 – Lexicon, maker of audio interfaces and effects units, has released a new series of I-ONIX desktop USB audio interfaces. Along with the input and output usual suspects, the U22, U42S, and U82S, feature a complete design departure from other audio interfaces. While most others, like my M-Audio FW410, are pretty much sharp-edged rectangles, the new Lexicons are perfect for the modern design-conscious consumer.  Featuring beefy knobs and blinky LEDs, the new interfaces will match up quite nicely to your new iMac. It’s nice to see a company think outside the audio interface design box. It definitely will set these new interfaces apart from the sea of competitors out there.

The U22, U42S, and U82S feature 24-bit/96khz audio recording, as well as dbx preamps. You also get Cubase LE4, as well as Toontrack’s EZdrummer Lite. All around, the new line of Lexicon I-ONIX desktop interfaces look like a solid release. No word on price or release date for any of the 3 interfaces.
