December 24th, 2008 – Apple’s iPhone is a pretty cool device. There are tonnes of apps for it, including many music creation ones. I do not have one, however I have many friends who do and today as my friend and I were discussing his iPhone purchase, he suggested I do a review on a music application he had purchase for $20 at the iTunes app store.
There are a lot of people out there using the iPhone’s multi-touch interface to make some pretty ingenious things, but are they that useful? Are people actually using such applications to create music, or are the applications more for biding your time while waiting for the bus? I might use one for music creation if I had one, but from the outside in, it looks more like a toy. After all, you can get a fully-fledged music creation software for a cheap PC for free. All you iPhone users out there: do you use your iPhone to make music?

I don’t have an iPhone, but I use my BlackBerry all the time for lyrics. It’s the perfect way to capture those snippets that can later become songs.

@Jeff : I sing into the “voice recorder” on an old LG Chocolate when I’m out and I don’t have anything else to capture my ideas. It’s always good to have something to get ideas captured in.
