November 27th, 2008 – Building on the momentum of their highly customized Samsung Q1, Trinity Audio Group is releasing a new laptop in the same vane. While not as portable as the UMPC version, it still looks to be a pretty compact package. It also boasts *gasp* a regular keyboard. Now you can macro your way all over the DAW!
The change in form factor also provides more processing power, a USB connection so you can use a nice external soundcard (the Q1 only had an 1/8 inch stereo input), and a larger, and therefore more legible, screen. One of things that impressed me most about the UMPC Indamixx was the software package it came with. It seemed to be a well-designed and well-thought out standalone production kit. It looks like the Indamixx laptop is much the same. If you pre-order now, you can get it at a $100 savings plus a customized sleeve, extra SD card, free FedEx shipping, t-shirt, and software support for 30 days. Sure you could probably put together a faster computer for cheaper, but I think that it’s pretty competitive price-wise with the set-up work that has been put into it. Also, $500 bucks is cheaper than most nice soundcards out there. For some reason though, this just makes me want the UMPC version more. Too bad it’s more than twice the price.
