October 22nd, 2008 – With all the companies making Firewire audio interfaces, how is Lexicon to stand out? How about featuring built-in DSP to take the strain off of your computer’s processor? Where as the UAD2 is a separate DSP card to compliment your already existing set up, Lexicon has taken a high quality interface and added hardware DSP built-in. With the onboard DSP, you can add dbx’s compressor, gate, limiter, and EQ, to each channel. The Lexicon IONIX FW810S sounds like a great option for laptop producers that need to conserve as much CPU power as possible. If I wasn’t already considering Protools 8 and it’s forced hardware tethering, I would be mighty interested in the Lexicon. I couldn’t find a price for it, but I would expect it to be competitive.
