October 24th, 2008 – I wasn’t sure that I wanted to post about another remix contest (Remix contests…so hot right now). However, I listened to the material that’s up for remix and I think that it offers a lot of potential for you to take it to the next level.
Synthvox, in conjunction with Peace Love Productions, is holding a contest for the song “Yours” by Cling. You need to sign up for the community to get the stem files, but that’s no different than sites like IndabaMusic. I would say that the main difference between the two sites is that IndabaMusic is set up like MySpace, while Synthvox is a forum community. But really, who cares about all that…you can win free stuff!
Prizes include the obligatory “your remix will be released”, an iPod touch 8gig (8gigs?! Who honestly only has an 8gig library?), a download from the Peace Love Productions site (they sell Acid loop packs), and Sony Sound Forge. When you finish your remix, you can link the song off of every site but MySpace (Take that MySpace!). Interestingly, they offer a dropbox for the newly public SoundCloud. Visit SynthVox for more information.
