October 6th, 2008 – CreateDigitalMusic has a post on a hacked Gameboy that you can control with a MIDI controller. Unlike when using LSDJ, or other Gameboy cartridge music programs, it looks like you don’t necessarily need a DAW inside the Gameboy to use it. Rather, you can use your Gameboy like an external synthesizer and input it into your DAW workflow as you see fit. I realize that you can program using LSDJ and then output the audio to your DAW, but I want to play the Gameboy with a keyboard as if it were an instrument, not feel like I’m coding a program. This is a hack that is worth cutting up my beloved childhood Gameboy for.
