September 14th, 2008 – As I’ve posted before, I’m a big fan of Vox guitar amps. I had a small 30w one to use in the studio I worked at and I felt that it offered me a lot of flexibility in a small package. Of course, I wasn’t going to get the growl of a Mesa but that was a largely a limitation of the smaller model that I had.

Vox has a new VT series out for October that is able to emulate 22 different amps, “ranging from the latest high-gain types to unobtainable legendary boutique amps and vintage amps”. You also get 12 different kinds of effects as well as the ability to save up to 66 presets, perfect for your marathon performances. Of course, the VT series also includes the 12AX7 tube that has come on Valvetronix models before. Vox amps provide a very good feature set for the price. If I were to upgrade my practice setup, I would be getting the 15w, there’s no need for anything more powerful.
