September 24th, 2008 – Due to the popularity of their last remix pack, Radiohead has decided to release their latest single “Reckoner” as separated tracks set up for remixing. What makes this particularly interesting is that Radiohead is selling these tracks on iTunes and they’re available as Garageband and Logic projects.
Unlike many other bands which give away the tracks for remix free (ie. NIN), Radiohead has elected to sell them. People who remix the tracks may upload their songs to the Radiohead Remix site to be voted upon in a similar fashion to the Indaba Music contests. The “winners” of the contest get their remixes listened to by Radiohead. Some prize eh? There is no guarantee that anything will come of the remixes other than the honour of having Radiohead bless it with their ears. You think that they’d at least put it on the album as a b-side or something.
