August 13th, 2008 – Sometimes it’s hard to come up with song ideas. You get so stuck on writing something with formulas you’re used to, that you can’t come up with anything fresh; it all sounds like everything else you’ve written. If you’re writing music using largely software instruments, you can fight this type of songwriter’s block by checking out some new synthesizers or samplers.

These days, sometimes a specific sound is the hook. Keeping this in mind, a new sound you haven’t heard before may inspire you enough to base a song on. At the very least, it will add to your production arsenal. Check out the Goldbaby website. It has a lot of free unique sample packs. It’ll help you refresh your current samples and hopefully give you some new ideas.
