July 9th, 2008 – When I first saw this video on Vimeo, I had to find out more about the robot that plays the lead. Turns out that it’s a little synthesizer from Bleep Labs called the Thingamagoop. It makes cool sounds via some knobs and switches, in synchronity with a light sensor; really, it’s a fun little toy to make noise with. At the price of $100 plus shipping, it was a little too expensive for me to buy just to play with, but I put it on the backburner for when I did have the money.

Now, Bleep Labs has released the ThingamaKIT, which is the Thingamagoop, but DIY. For the privilege of making the little sound machine yourself, you save $55 dollars and get more switches. Sounds like a deal to me; at that price, I may just be able to afford one.
