
July 6th, 2008 – The International Songwriting Competition is a judged competition with many songwriting categories. This year, the early deadline for applications is July 15th. The first song costs $30 USD to enter with discounts for additional entries. After July 15th, there will be no discount for additional entries. There are $150,000 dollars in prizes and there are some pretty big name judges.
Some of this year’s celebrity judges are Tom Waits, Rob Thomas, Chaka Khan, Robert Smith, Loretta Lynn, Jerry Lee Lewis, KT Tunstall, Darryl McDaniels (of Run DMC), Weird Al Yankovic, and many more. The grand prize is $25,000 cash and an additional $20,000 in merchandise/services, while first place in each category gets $3,000 in merchandise/services.
The ISC is one of the more reputable contests out there and, according to the New York Times, is “the songwriting competition to take note of”. The official deadline is October 15th. Good luck!
