July 15th, 2008 -I’m surprised that it took so long to create a product like this. The BreakFree is essentially two magnetic pieces that hold your patch cable in place. Riffing on the same idea as the magnetic power adapters on Apple laptops, the cables are only kept in by magnets which means that accidental disconnection does not damage the plugs. How many of you have noisy cable connections? Most likely it was caused by undue stress of the cable by being pulled on. It may have not broken your plug off completely before but it has caused damage over time. By having the plug magnetic, it insures that if there is force that is too much for the magnet, that it will disconnect. It also allows you to leave the connectors in guitars for quick switching on stage without the “pop” of disconnection. It’s reasonably priced at $20 per connector.
